Computer Forensics

Computer forensics is a critical investigative tool in virtually every type of investigation conducted today, and is essential in solving many if not all cases, especially those involving I.P. or intellectual property theft, trade secret theft and most all employee malfeasance. The process of gathering evidentiary data requires the knowledge of hardware architecture, software systems and the legal process. This knowledge has allowed us to recover thousands of pieces of data and other electronic evidence for organizations, law firms and individuals across the country, while maintaining the necessary chain of custody and data integrity. The proper acquisition and analysis of this data are paramount in computer forensics. Electronic evidence is oftentimes the deciding factor in the outcome of a criminal or civil action.

Missing that key piece of evidence essential to your case?

Our examiners have undergone the extensive training and testing that is required in this field including obtaining Encase Certified Examiner (EnCE) certification. We utilize a host of the latest forensic software and hardware tools such as Guidance Software's Encase Forensic Suite, Access Data's Forensic ToolKit, various Paraben utilities as well as in house developed specialized tools.

Lost that confidential file and don't know who to trust to retrieve it?

Cases involving intellectual property theft, sexual harassment, employment discrimination, and premise liability can be won or lost solely by presenting recovered e-mail messages and other electronic files and records to the courts or other administrative proceedings. If an attempt has been made to delete, erase, or otherwise hide critical evidence, you need experienced, competent and certified forensic examiners. Swailes & Company has led the search and retrieval of the "smoking gun" to locate data that would otherwise be thought of as permanently lost.  If we can touch the drive, more often than not, we can recover the data.

Related Technical Services:

Internet Investigations

We conduct Internet investigations focusing on the sale of stolen goods on auction websites or online classified ads. We also have the capability to track e-mail account holders and anonymous posters who have posted harassing or damaging information pertaining to both individuals and companies.

Our Technical Services Division is tasked with a wide variety of investigative assignments for which our clients have a need in the rapidly expanding technical world. Our focus as a company is to mitigate business risk through the use of our technical expertise.

Technical Surveillance Countermeasures Surveys (TSCM)

Is your boardroom safe?

Swailes & Company is recognized as an industry leader in the TSCM business and has assisted companies worldwide. We have performed these projects in the United Kingdom, Chile, Argentina, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic, as well as virtually every corner of our nation. These “sweeps” or “debugging” services, as they are commonly referred to, are designed to detect the presence of clandestine surveillance devices.

Are you planning a merger or acquisition?

In the course of a comprehensive counter-measures survey, we conduct both an electronic and physical inspection of the area for devices such as radio transmitters, microphones, laser listening devices, cameras, or telephone line taps. These inspections also include identifying instrument modifications, carrier current bugs, technical security weaknesses or other potentially exploitable hazards. These surveys enable our clients to ensure a secure environment for conducting business; both day-to-day activities and special events such as Annual Board Meetings, Mergers, Acquisition Strategy sessions, or other sensitive and proprietary discussions.
